The full moon of August made a dramatic debut as its
huge glowing eyes peeked over the eastern horizon.
Its bright face silhouetted miles of hills and
fields. Soon in full view, the moon's gigantic smile
beamed brilliantly as stars began to cluster and
shimmer in the blackness above.
Within minutes, this breathtaking sight became an
indelible memorya permanent inspirational gift.
It also brought feelings of gratitude for experiencing
nature from this fabulous perspective.
Along life's winding pathway with all of its losses,
victories, disappointments, and triumphs, is an
authentic living joy that will not die. To be inspired,
or to receive a gift in spirit, gives access to that
living joy. Then, we realize that there is no separation
between our own consciousness and the joy we have experienced.
Our joy is a reflection of our spirit.
Norman Vincent Peale wrote, "Our happiness depends on
the habit of mind we cultivate."
Feeling gratitude is one of those habits. Gratitude is
often expressed in words. However, it must also be felt
in spirit.
In spirit we not only count our blessings. We celebrate
each one with a deep appreciation. In spirit, gratitude
reveals true joy, which like the evening summer sky,
is breathtaking and limitless.
Ask yourself these questions: What things are you
grateful for every day? What kind of experiences bring
you deep spiritual gifts that make you feel incredibly
alive and happy?
Count each blessing around you, each simple pleasure,
each wondrous experience, and know that authentic
joythe joy of lifeis yours today!
